The government has announced that it is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013 to 2014 and 2014 to 2015 with further funding available until 2020 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – will be allocated to primary school head teachers. The money must be used to improve the provision of P.E. and school sport.
Schools are allocated funding known as the 'P.E. and Sports Premium' to improve physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The spend plan / statement 2017-18 (pdf) is below. This describes the rationale behind our spending of the premium; amounts allocated under the premium; provision and continuous professional development paid for by the premium; intended impact and sustainability.
What we will use the money for
This funding will help us to enhance and sustain current and future provision. All of our children will benefit from this sports funding, regardless of their sporting ability. As we have developed our action plan, we have included priorities for appropriate use of the Sports Premium funding set out by the Government.
Our action plan will regularly change and be updated as we receive new information and initiatives.
